Trump Hosts Dinner for Police and National Guard; Expresses Gratitude for D.C. Crime Cleanup

Trump Thanks Law Enforcement with Pizza and Burgers

On Thursday, President Donald Trump provided pizza and burgers to law enforcement and National Guard members, expressing gratitude for their efforts in tackling crime in Washington, D.C.

According to updates from the White House Presspool, Attorney General Pam Bondy and Interior Secretary Doug Burgham met with various law enforcement agencies at the U.S. Parks Police Headquarters in Anacostia. Trump commended the officials for their remarkable work since they assumed control of federal law enforcement in the city, noting the serious crime challenges it faces.

“We appreciate it. The numbers are falling unbelievably, but we believe it,” Trump stated, highlighting the improvements in crime rates. He added, “We’ve had some incredible results…and it’s like a different place. It’s like a different city. It’s the capital. It’s going to be the best in the world.”

Vice President JD Vance pointed out that during the initial nine days under Trump’s direction, violent crime decreased by 35%, and robbery rates plummeted by 50%. However, Trump emphasized that addressing crime is just one aspect of his larger goal to revitalize D.C., mentioning his plans to secure congressional funding for urban improvements.

“We do what you do in law enforcement, and very importantly, we’re going to do it physically. We’re going to go back to Congress for some money. And we’re going to redo a lot of pavement, lot of central people, lot of graffiti, all really fast,” Trump explained. He underscored that the focus would be on cleaning and refurbishing rather than new constructions.

While presenting the food, Trump stated, “We eat, I’ll eat with you. We’ll enjoy a little. We’re going to celebrate, but we’re going to go back to work and take care of these criminals. We’re going to put them where they have to be.”

Burgham praised the law enforcement professionals for “regaining respect,” while Bondi commended the officers, recognizing their dedication to the community, “They love our country, they love our city, so they work every night in the middle of the night.”

After the meeting, Trump returned to the White House, following a media pool.
