Trump Responds to Senator Murphy’s Critique
In a recent post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump took aim at Senator Chris Murphy following the senator’s criticism of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump didn’t hold back, calling Murphy “very unattractive (both inside and outside),” “silly,” and “lightweight.” This response came after Murphy labeled the summit—a meeting intended to foster peace between Ukraine and Russia—as a “disaster,” an “embarrassment for the United States,” and a “failure.”
Murphy was vocal about his thoughts on the meeting, asserting that it allowed Putin to achieve all he desired. He remarked, “Putin got everything he wanted. His war crimes, ceasefires, photo manipulation that legalizes Ukrainian sanctions and new weapons. Trump’s aim was to keep Putin satisfied, and he succeeded.”
In contrast, Trump pushed back against Murphy’s statement, remarking on how “Connecticut’s highly unattractive Senator Chris Murphy” claimed “Putin got everything he wanted.” Trump emphasized that “Nobody has anything” close to being true, hinting at a belief that Russia’s influence would not strengthen under his watch. He suggested the situation had become harder to resolve due to “stupid people” like Murphy and others.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to arrive in Washington, D.C. for a conference with Trump and several European leaders to advocate for an end to the ongoing conflict with Russia. In his messages posted over the weekend, Trump mentioned, “Tomorrow is a big day at the White House,” noting the significance of having numerous European leaders present.
As Trump expressed, Zelensky could potentially bring a quick end to the war “if he wants to,” or he might choose to continue the fight. Reflecting on historical context, Trump added, “Remember how it started. I don’t remember Obama being given Crimea without resistance!”
