Transportation Secretary Discusses Government Shutdown
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy shared his perspective on the impact of the ongoing government shutdown during a conversation with Breitbart News’s Matthew Boyle. He emphasized that President Trump is trying hard to lessen the effects of the shutdown on the American public.
From his vantage point, Duffy noted that air traffic controllers are facing a tough situation, as they will not receive a second paycheck. Many are still opting to show up for work, yet because of this, flight schedules will likely see reductions to mitigate risks.
“Open the damn government. Vote to open the government,” he urged, addressing Democrats who have expressed dissatisfaction with his actions. “For those criticizing me for doing something unprecedented, I would appreciate some honesty because I’m taking this on myself.”
Duffy praised Trump as a “machine” for his relentless efforts to help minimize the hardships Americans face due to the Democratic decision to keep the government closed.
“He’s a machine. I’m really grateful to have a president who is so dedicated to serving the American people. He makes every minute count. There’s no downtime; it’s all about work. Even his kids notice how focused he is on his duties,” Duffy pointed out, contrasting Trump’s work ethic with that of former President Obama.
He recalled that during Obama’s administration, when the government shut down, there were efforts to cause significant disruptions to American life, such as closing down outdoor parks and trails.
“President Trump genuinely loves America and its people. He works to ease their suffering, which might not be seen as politically advantageous since it places less pressure on Democrats. He wants to improve lives and make the nation better,” Duffy asserted.
He concluded by saying, “When there’s a shutdown, it goes against the values of our country, and he aims to minimize the damage. I admire that about him. Each day, he dedicates himself to improving our country and fostering prosperity for all.”
