President-elect Trump announced Tuesday night that campaign speechwriter Vince Haley will be the next director of the Domestic Policy Council (DPC).
“As director of the Domestic Policy Council, Vince will help make life better for all Americans and unite this country through success. “We will defeat the United States, rapidly lower prices, secure our southern border, cut taxes and regulations, reignite growth, build the greatest economy in history, and make America great again.”
Haley worked in the White House during President Trump's first term and will hold an influential position overseeing the development and implementation of the president's domestic policies across the federal government.
The DPC is part of the Office of Policy Development and is comprised of various secretaries and White House staff.
Haley is a protégé of senior adviser Stephen Miller, whom President-elect Trump selected two weeks ago to be his deputy chief of staff for policy.
Ms. Haley also worked with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) in various positions for more than a decade, including serving as Mr. Gingrich's campaign manager for the Georgia Republican Party's 2012 presidential campaign. There is a close relationship with both.
Haley is a trained lawyer. In a statement Tuesday, President Trump praised him as “a very well-educated man with a great mind on policy that works for the American people.”
