Trump: Peltola Should Face Charges for Democratic Plan to Enlist 2nd Dan Sullivan

Trump Condemns Alleged Democrat Scheme in Alaska

President Donald Trump has labeled the reported Democrat effort to recruit a second candidate named Dan Sullivan in Alaska as “a criminal act.” He believes that Rep. Mary Peltola, the Democrat nominee for the Senate who supposedly knew about this scheme, should face prosecution.

This statement comes a day after the New York Times revealed that Democrat operatives encouraged another individual named Dan Sullivan to run earlier this year. The goal was to benefit Peltola while undermining the incumbent, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK). At a campaign rally in South Carolina, Trump described this as a “conspiracy” and a serious instance of “voter fraud.”

“What they’re doing is called splitting the vote. It’s completely wrong and illegal. This is the highest level of voter fraud. The Democrat candidate involved in this scheme, Mary Peltola—who, by the way, treats her staff horribly, to the point they consider it abusive—should be disqualified and prosecuted, just like the fake Dan Sullivan,” Trump stated.

“This is someone who has never run for office and has no experience in politics. He just happens to share the name Dan Sullivan,” he added.

According to the New York Times, “The Peltola campaign has repeatedly denied involvement in his candidacy. However, based on interviews, text messages, and documents intended for a possible lawsuit against the campaign, it’s evident that Peltola’s team collaborated with individuals attempting to recruit him. Moreover, this effort extended further, encouraging other potential candidates to join the race to undermine the incumbent’s support for a Democrat victory.”

The endeavor, referred to internally as the ballot composition project, involved secret travels to remote Alaskan communities and the presence of a mysterious Midwestern operative who approached potential candidates in casual settings.

Elisa Rios, Peltola’s former campaign manager, briefly attempted to take back earlier comments she made to the Times prior to their publication, acknowledging that Peltola was “definitely aware” of the scheme, although not directly involved.

“What we’re seeing is unprecedented in elections, and this behavior cannot be allowed to continue. It’s just awful,” Trump remarked, noting, “This is being looked into very seriously. I believe what they did constitutes a criminal act because it was indeed a conspiracy.”
