President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he has tapped Linda McMahon to be secretary of education.

Earlier Tuesday, President Trump announced his choice of another transition team co-chairman, Howard Lutnick, to head the Commerce Department.
“It is my great honor to announce that Linda McMahon, former Administrator of the Small Business Administration, will serve as Secretary of Education of the United States,” President Trump wrote.
McMahon previously served as head of the Small Business Administration during the Trump administration's first term, taking office in 2017 and resigning in 2019, leading the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action (CNN) reported. McMahon currently chairs the America First Policy Institute, a think tank he co-founded in 2021 with Larry Kudlow and other Trump administration advisers.
According to CNN, the group has raised significant funds and is preparing policy initiatives for a potential second term for President Trump. Before taking on a political role, McMahon served as CEO of WWE, which she co-founded with her husband Vince McMahon.
Under her leadership, WWE grew from a small wrestling promotion to a publicly traded entertainment powerhouse. She stepped down as CEO in 2009, CNN reported. According to the paper, Trump donated $5,000 to his 2012 campaign. As a Republican donor, McMahon gave more than $7 million to pro-Trump super PACs during the 2016 presidential campaign, Open Secret reported.
