Trump Pilots B-2 Stealth Bomber Over Putin Before Alaska Meeting

On Friday, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at an Anchorage airfield to discuss a possible peace agreement regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Interestingly, Trump arrived with a US Air Force B-2 Spirit Stealth bomber.

Shortly after leaving Washington, D.C., the Air Force transported Trump to Alaska, with the White House labeling the meeting as a “direct and urgent” diplomatic initiative. Putin traveled to the summit at Trump’s invitation. While Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky was not in attendance in Alaska, he is anticipated to take part in future discussions if a preliminary framework is established.

Speaking to reporters aboard the Air Force vehicle, Trump emphasized that Russia would encounter significant economic repercussions if Putin isn’t serious about reaching a settlement. “I’m not doing this for my health,” Trump remarked. “We want to focus on our country, but we’re doing this to save a lot of lives.”

He confirmed that discussions on potential territorial exchanges would take place but insisted that the decision rests with Ukraine. “I’m not here to negotiate for Ukraine. I’m here to get them at the table,” he explained.

The B-2 Spirit bomber that flew in on Friday is the same type used in the Operation Midnight Hammer in June, which targeted three Iranian nuclear sites in a complex mission from Missouri. Military officials described this operation as one of the longest and most intricate in bomber history.

The B-2 bomber, which entered service in 1997, has a wingspan of 172 feet and costs around $2 billion each. Designed to accommodate two pilots, it can carry both conventional and nuclear munitions, with stealth technologies that enable it to penetrate secured airspace unnoticed.

Friday’s summit in Alaska forms part of a series of diplomatic efforts initiated by Trump in recent months, addressing tensions between various countries, including those between Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, as well as Armenia and Azerbaijan.
