Trump Promises Support for Blakeman in New York Campaign
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — On Friday, President Trump expressed his commitment to assist Bruce Blakeman in reducing energy costs and tackling crime and illegal immigration in New York. This pledge comes as voters prepare to choose between the Republican gubernatorial candidate and Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul in the upcoming November election.
“Kathy Hochul and the radical ‘Dumocrats’ have turned New York into a national embarrassment with soaring costs, rampant crime, and immense corruption, all while communist politicians chase jobs and wealth out of the state,” Trump stated during a lively rally in Syracuse.
He urged New Yorkers to “clean house in Albany on November 3rd, starting with Kathy Hochul.” Trump highlighted alarming statistics regarding the number of “migrant criminals who have been arrested” in the state, claiming they were released by Hochul “to prey on innocent New Yorkers.”
“In less than two years, New York has let out criminal illegal aliens involved in over 48,000 crimes,” he said, mentioning cases including 8,600 assaults and other serious offenses. “Democrat sanctuary policies always put innocent lives at risk.”
Trump praised ICE agents for their role in the recent shooting of suspected migrant gang member Oscar Belgal in the Bronx, describing him as a “very dangerous man” who was wanted for murder ties. Yet, Trump noted that instead of being appreciated, ICE faced scorn from New York politicians who had previously released him.
“To stop illegal alien criminals from being released into your communities, you have to elect Bruce Blakeman and a Republican Congress. We will finally ban sanctuary cities and states,” he asserted.
Trump added that if Blakeman calls him for assistance in areas of New York City facing danger, he will respond within 24 hours. He confidently claimed that with Blakeman as governor, crime rates would plummet within months, just as they did in places like Washington, D.C., Memphis, and New Orleans.
Additionally, Trump criticized Hochul for the state’s high electricity costs, promising that Blakeman could reduce prices significantly. “Your energy bills are the highest in the nation,” he lamented, “but when Bruce gets in, we’ll tap into your oil and lower them to among the lowest.”
The rally took place at the Syracuse OneCenter, a large convention venue. Trump energized the crowd early on, sharing his excitement about returning to upstate New York.
“Here we are, not far from the shores of Lake America,” he said, prompting enthusiastic applause over the mention of Lake Ontario’s renaming.
Accompanying Trump on Air Force One for this trip were boxing legend Mike Tyson and New York Yankees President Randy Levine, with Trump remarking on Tyson’s danger.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, and New York GOP Reps. Claudia Tenney and Nick Langworthy also joined Trump on the flight.
Before Trump took the stage, Blakeman rallied the audience with promises to stop so-called sanctuary state practices and to allow fracking if he wins.
He described Hochul as “the most pro-criminal governor in America,” highlighting policies he believed enable criminals. Blakeman also pointed to Hochul’s alleged responsibility for the recent ICE incident in the Bronx, criticizing her for allowing “illegal migrants with criminal records” to endanger New Yorkers.
Blakeman received enthusiastic applause when he pledged to issue an executive order declaring, “New York is no longer a sanctuary state,” if he defeats Hochul.
