Trump Announces Israel’s Agreement on Gaza Withdrawal
On Saturday, former President Donald Trump revealed that Israel has accepted Gaza’s “early withdrawal line.” This development, pending Hamas’s confirmation, would initiate an immediate ceasefire and facilitate an exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
“After negotiations, Israel shared with Hamas the first line for retreat. Once they confirm, the ceasefire can take effect, and the exchange of hostages and prisoners will start, leading to the next phase of withdrawal,” he stated in a post on True Social. He also expressed gratitude for everyone’s cooperation on this matter and advised people to stay tuned.
Israeli Military Prepared for First Phase of Hostage Release
This announcement followed a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who mentioned a significant achievement was in progress. He noted, “It’s not final yet. We are committed to working diligently, and with some luck, I hope to update you about returning both the hostages and those who have passed away in the coming days.”
Netanyahu suggested that intense military and diplomatic pressure influenced Hamas to agree to Israel’s proposed plan.
Plans for Peace in Gaza and Netanyahu’s Future
As part of the initial withdrawal plan, Netanyahu indicated that the Israel Defense Forces would redeploy while Hamas is to release all Israeli hostages, although they will retain control over key strategic territories within the Gaza Strip. To finalize the hostage release details, Netanyahu will dispatch a negotiation team led by Minister Ron Dahmer to Egypt.
The Prime Minister emphasized a stringent approach to prevent any potential delays or stall tactics from Hamas.
Netanyahu Addresses Trump’s Peace Strategy
In the second step of the strategy, Netanyahu stated that Hamas must be disarmed, and the Gaza Strip would be subject to scrutiny. “I have mentioned this in Washington; it will either happen smoothly or with difficulty, but it will be accomplished,” he said.
Netanyahu further reflected on their collaborative efforts, noting the success in countering threats ranging from Gaza to Tehran. He expressed optimism about continuing to secure Israel’s safety and stability.
