Trump Announces Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran
In a post on True Society, President Trump shared that he has reached a preliminary agreement for a ceasefire aimed at halting what he referred to as the “12-day war” between Israel and Iran.
“Congratulations to everyone. There’s a complete agreement between Israel and Iran, and there is a full ceasefire. The final mission is about six hours away from concluding, and after 12 hours, the war is considered finished!” Trump wrote.
He continued, stating, “Officially, both Iran and Israel will initiate a ceasefire in the 12th hour. This marks the official end of the 12-day conflict, which will be acknowledged globally.”
Trump expressed his hope for both nations, saying, “I want to congratulate Israel and Iran for their stamina, courage, and intelligence. This war has persisted for years and has been destructive in the Middle East, but it will not continue.”
As for reactions, there didn’t seem to be immediate confirmations from either Israel or Iran regarding the ceasefire.
The term “12 Days of War” symbolizes Israel’s military gains against Iran’s nuclear facilities, reminiscent of the six-day war back in 1967 when Israel rapidly defeated an alliance of Arab nations including Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.
Vice President JD Vance celebrated the announcement during an interview shortly after it was made. “The president, who never shies away from a challenge, has effectively dismantled Iran’s nuclear program with no American loss of life,” he remarked.
“We need to open dialogues with Iran, as well as with Israel, to shape a peaceful future together,” he added.
This ceasefire announcement follows Iran’s symbolic attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar, which was perceived as retaliation for American airstrikes and upheaval at three nuclear sites in Iran.
Trump indicated that Tehran had provided warnings prior to their response, noting that most incoming rockets were intercepted before they could hit their targets.
The violence initially broke out when Israeli forces targeted key Iranian nuclear sites on June 13, coinciding with a series of targeted killings of scientists and military figures.
While Israel gained aerial superiority, it struggled to completely incapacitate Iran’s Foldau nuclear enrichment site with a 2,000-pound bomb. A damage assessment is ongoing, although Trump claims that all three targeted Iranian facilities have been “totally destroyed.”
