Donald Trump has moved to undo security clearances for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and a range of other top Democrats and political enemies. President's Note It was published late Friday.
The withdrawal of security clearance includes former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Wyoming representative Liz Cheney, former Illinois representative Adam Kinzinger and New York Attorney General Letitia James. They no longer have access to classified information. This is the courtesy that is usually provided to the former president and some officials after he quits public services.
“I have determined that it is no longer in national interest for the following individuals to access the classified information,” Trump wrote. Trump also said he would “instruct all enforcement departments and agency heads to revoke undelivered escort access to make U.S. government facilities safe from these individuals.”
Earlier this month, National Intelligence Director Tarshi Gabbard announced that she had cancelled her clearance and blocked several people named in Trump's memo.
Trump's decision to remove Biden from the intelligence briefing was a counter-strike against his Democratic political opponents, banning Trump from accessing classified documents in 2021.
Earlier this week, Trump announced he was “quickly” pulling out Secret Service protections for Hunter and Ashley, “quickly effective” Biden children, after 18 agents allegedly assigned to the former president's son for a trip to South Africa, 13 of them to travel to daughter Ashley.
More broadly, the cancellation of security clearance issued Friday appears to correlate with the president's list of political enemies, including New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Others on the list include Fiona Hill, a foreign policy expert who testified against Trump in his first round each of his boss' alleged plots to withhold military aid to Ukraine as a way to withhold military aid to Ukraine as a way to pressure the president to investigate Biden. Alexander Vindman, lieutenant colonel testified at the hearing. And Norman Eisen, the lawyer who oversees the bullet each.
Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, Republicans who served on the committee investigating the January 6th U.S. Capitol riots, were also added to the list. Trump said the information ban would “including, but not limited to, receipt of classified briefings, including access to classified information held by members of the Intelligence Reporting Agency, such as a daily overview of the president.”
