During Thursday’s presidential debate on CNN, former President Trump slammed President Biden for failing to fire any of the generals who oversaw the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in which 13 U.S. soldiers were killed.
“He was absolutely awful in Afghanistan,” Trump said during Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate. “It was a terrible, terrible embarrassment. For Putin to see that and realize his incompetence was the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country.”
“He should have fired those generals, just like I fired the generals that you mentioned. So he holds no grudges, but he should have fired those generals,” Trump continued. “Generals were not fired for leaving billions of dollars of equipment behind in Afghanistan, the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country. We lost 13 great soldiers, 38 soldiers wiped out.”
Trump also said the world is “exploding” under President Biden.

“Have you ever heard more nonsense in your life?” Biden responded.
Biden also defended the withdrawal from Afghanistan and slammed Trump’s stance on the Ukraine war and his comments about Russian President Putin.

“This guy hasn’t fired anybody,” Trump said at another moment in the debate.
“He should have fired every single one of our service members who was involved in the horror in Afghanistan,” Trump said. “It’s the most shameful moment in the history of our country. He didn’t fire anybody. Did he fire anybody? Did he fire anybody at the border, which has created the worst border in the history of the world? Did he fire anybody for letting in 18 million people, many of them from prisons and mental hospitals?”
