President Trump on Friday warned Russia to take serious talks to end the war with Ukraine.
“Russia has to move around,” the president wrote about the true society before traveling to Walter Reed Medical Center for the annual physical examination.
“Too many people are dying, thousands of people per week are dying in a terrible, meaningless war. If I were president, it would never have happened and never would have happened!!!”
Envoy Steve Witkov has arrived in Russia in hopes of pushing along peace negotiations that have been stagnating in recent weeks.
Trump officials met separately with Russian and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia a few weeks ago and established peace in three years of war.
The conference created semi-frequent fire agreements on energy infrastructure, but Russia continued to launch missiles at Ukraine, and Putin issued an order collecting 160,000 additional men before the June deadline.
Trump, who initially wanted to secure a peace deal, recently became sour to Putin, saying he was “angry” and “angry” at NBC News's questioning Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky's leadership in Kiev last month.
“If Russia and I can't get a contract to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it's Russia's fault, it may not be, but if I think it's Russia's fault, I'm going to put secondary tariffs on oil on all the oil that comes out of Russia,” Trump said on March 30.
This is the third time Witkov has gone to Moscow to negotiate on behalf of Trump. The real estate mogul is the first top official to meet Russian leaders since the Ukrainian invasion began on February 24, 2022.
Witkov said he didn't consider Putin a “bad guy,” and told media personality Tucker Carlsson in March that the “important” issue in negotiations would be the fate of Ukrainian territory, currently occupied by Russia.
The State Department did not respond to an investigation from a post about Witkov's meeting.
