Trump speaks with Macron ahead of European leaders meeting on Ukraine

President Trump spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of the European leaders' meeting on war in Ukraine as the Trump administration advances its plans to negotiate an end to the war.

White House officials said Monday's call was “friendly” and lasted about 30 minutes.

Officials say the two presidents spoke about the Ukrainian War, meetings with European leaders, and meetings between us and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia.

Macron has put together Monday's summit. This comes after he said he hopes Trump will face Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Paris summit included Macron, British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. It lasted more than three hours, and the leaders agreed that they must play a role in US-Russia discussions about Ukraine, Associated Press It has been reported.

Ukrainian President Voldimer Zelensky also said he has not received an invitation to a Saudi Arabian conference between US and Russian officials.
