Trump states Israel has accepted the conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and cautions Hamas to accept the agreement.

On Tuesday evening, former President Trump announced his agreement to “necessary conditions” allowing Israel to initiate a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, cautioning the Palestinian group Hamas that their situation “will not improve.”

Trump stated, “My representative had a long and constructive meeting with the Israelis in Gaza today. Israel has accepted the conditions needed to finalize the 60-day ceasefire. We aim to collaborate with all political factions during this period to bring an end to the conflict.”

He also mentioned, “The Catalis and the Egyptians, who have worked diligently for peace, will present this final proposal. I hope Hamas will consider this deal for the good of the Middle East.”

It remains uncertain if Hamas, which the US government classifies as a terrorist organization, will agree to the proposed terms.

This announcement coincides with discussions on trade, the aftermath of the Israeli-Iran conflict, and the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war, as Trump is scheduled to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next week.

“He’s here. We’ll discuss a variety of topics, including significant achievements. We’ve seen incredible success with Iran,” Trump remarked earlier on Tuesday. “I’ll also address matters concerning Gaza.”

Trump urged both Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire and facilitate the release of hostages.

Previously, he indicated on Truth Social, “We will sign a contract in Gaza. Get back the hostages!!! DJT.”

Attempts to broker a ceasefire in the past have proved unsuccessful. The Middle Eastern envoy, Steve Witkov, shared an approved proposal from Israel, suggesting that Hamas should release 10 live Israeli hostages and 18 deceased individuals from Gaza in exchange for a two-month truce, with Israel agreeing to free over 1,000 Palestinian detainees. However, Witkov described the extremist group’s response as “absolutely unacceptable.”

On Tuesday, Qatari officials sent fresh proposals to both sides. In a related development, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dahmer met with a Trump administration official in Washington on the same day.
