President Donald Trump reiterated this again on Monday. Iran has reiterated that the US must abandon its hopes to acquire nuclear weapons in order to prepare for more talks within a week.
“Iran needs to remove the concept of nuclear weapons. They cannot have nuclear weapons,” Trump told reporters in the oval office while sitting with President El Salvador.
“Iran wants to deal with us, but they don’t know how. They really don’t know how,” Trump continued.

The president confirmed that the US will hold more talks in Italy next Saturday, a week after the initial talks began in Oman.
They were seen as the point of standing up when Washington attempted to negotiate with Tehran to end the nuclear program, but details of the debate remained at zero.
Iranian state media reported that Middle Eastern envoy Steve Witkov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi had “temporary talks” during the two-hour meeting.
The White House similarly described the speech as “very positive and constructive,” but also admitted that the “very complicated” issue remains unresolved.

Trump said negotiations with Iran need to happen “very quickly,” but he has not provided a specific timeline on how long the diplomatic process can be implemented before turning to military options.
The president repeatedly threatened to “bomb” Iran if he didn’t stop his ambitions to develop nuclear weapons.
However, the extent to which the US intends to shut down Tehran’s nuclear program remains unknown as Iran continues to move forward with demand for full disarmament.

“I’ll solve that problem. It’s almost easy,” Trump told reporters, comparing the challenge of ending Russia’s war in Ukraine with the end of Iran’s decades of ambition to develop nuclear weapons.
“I think Iran will be a great country unless there are nuclear weapons,” Trump said. “If they have nuclear weapons, they will never have the opportunity to become a great nation.”
