Bill O’Reilly Discusses Trump’s Stance on Iran
Bill O’Reilly, a well-known conservative commentator, recently shared his thoughts on President Trump’s position regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. O’Reilly believes Trump desires a total surrender from Iran, suggesting that he sees this as the likely outcome of the current situation.
“At this point, Trump is hesitant to involve the US Air Force,” O’Reilly stated during an appearance on News Nation’s “On Balance” with host Leland Vittert. “This decision is partly due to potential implications for China and Russia. I think he prefers to see Iran capitulate instead.”
O’Reilly added that Trump’s strategy is to let Israel grow stronger while focusing on the ongoing dispute.
The conservative commentator, who has a book titled “Confronting Evil” on the way, mentioned texting Trump on Monday amid reports of ongoing air exchanges between Israel and Iran, which had persisted for several days.
“Trump thinks a deal is forthcoming,” O’Reilly said. “The terms are that arms inspectors will be allowed into all locations involved with nuclear weapon development. The goal is for the Iranians, under UN supervision, to dismantle many of their weapons.”
He acknowledged that Iranian leaders might not be inclined to agree, but noted Trump remains optimistic about the possibility.
On Monday, Trump had been attending a gathering of G7 leaders in Canada.
O’Reilly’s private conversation with Trump seemed to echo the president’s remarks to reporters earlier Tuesday about his insistence on a “complete give-up” from Iran.
“I’m not seeking a ceasefire. We expect more than just that,” Trump told reporters while aboard Air Force One, stressing that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.
In the past week, tensions escalated, with Israeli forces launching a sudden strike on Iran’s nuclear site, resulting in casualties among military officials and scientists.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alongside Trump, had cautioned residents of Tehran to vacate, following the Israeli Defense Force’s (IDF) dismantling of Iran’s air defense, which allowed for continued airstrikes.
Netanyahu hinted he might consider targeting Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but Trump has reportedly advised Israeli leaders against such drastic measures.
While discussing possible US military involvement, Trump has not dismissed the idea entirely.
