On Thursday, President Donald Trump instructed Attorney General Pam Bondy to facilitate the release of the Great Jue Tribunal transcript related to Jeffrey Epstein. It’s not entirely clear when this information will become public, but the Justice Department plans to file a request with judges on Friday regarding the transcript.
This directive follows significant criticism directed at the Trump administration, particularly over its conclusion that there was no evidence implicating high-profile financiers in blackmail or other misconduct. The memo sparked a divide among Trump’s supporters, some of whom expressed concerns about the administration’s transparency. Reports suggested that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino might consider resigning over the matter, although he hasn’t made any public statements about it.
Amidst this, Trump has dismissed the criticisms, labeling them a “hoax,” and he claims that his supporters are being misled by Democrats. He posted a message on Truth Social Friday morning questioning the integrity of past officials like then-Attorney General Merrick Garland and then-FBI Director James Comey.
Bondy is expected to release the “trusted” Epstein files as per Trump’s request. Before assuming her role in the administration, she was vocal about the necessity of publishing the Epstein list, telling Fox News in 2024 that it should have been released much earlier.
The Justice Department had previously released another batch of Epstein-related documents in February, but those did not provide any new insights into the case, as many had already emerged during the federal case against Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
Trump has defended Bondy recently, telling reporters he’s requested her to release all relevant transcripts related to the incident. On Thursday, he emphasized the immense public interest in Epstein’s case, urging Bondy to gather substantial testimony, pending court approval. He concluded that the “scam” orchestrated by Democrats needed to come to an end.
Bondy announced her team is prepared to initiate court proceedings the next day to secure the transcript of the Great Jue Court. Epstein, the billionaire investor who owned a private island in the US Virgin Islands, died in federal custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
