To prevent federal government shutdowns, the 1968 HR 1968 continued resolution will be passed in the House of Representatives, reducing non-defensive spending by $13 billion from levels in the 2024 budget year, and if written in the law, it will increase defensive spending by $6 billion.
While most Republicans were on board, Thomas Massey refused to sign the bill – and Rand Paul opposed it.
“Despite the findings of @Doge's Rooney's left-wing USAID program, the Republican spending bill continues to fund the very foreign aid that @elonmusk proposes to cut! The bill continues to spend at an inflated pandemic level, and adds 2T to its debt this year. Count me in hell!” Paul wrote in a post on social media platform X.

“Marco Rubio came out today and said 83% of the USAID program has ended,” Ron Simmons, father of Ally Beth Stucky, told Stucky about “relevance.” “So I don't know what Rand Paul is saying. It may not be doing everything he wants, I get it, but we're making progress and the wheels of progress don't turn on the dime.”
“And this is something your friend, Thomas Massey, doesn't understand,” he continues. “If you get a win and go back and get another win later, you'll win. That's what you're doing.”
“His beef doesn't seem to believe in these omnibus bills as a rule. He wants the bill to be separated, so Americans and Congress have time to read what's in them,” retorts Stucky.
“I appreciate that level of transparency. I think his constituents are. I'm not even saying you're wrong,” she continues.
“Beautiful Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massey is an automatic “no” vote for almost everything, despite his constant vote on continuous resolutions in the past. He should be primary and I will lead the charges against him,” Trump wrote in a post about Truth Society.
“He's another ancestor, and there's too much trouble and it's not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before her historical, record-breaking fall (loss!) Kentucky people don't support it. Is there a taker?” he continued.
“That's too far away. I agree with you about that,” Simmons replies.
“I mean, that's insane,” agrees Stucky.
