In his State of the Union address, President Trump asserted that everyday Americans are suffering due to federal immigration policies that attract immigrants from problematic areas.
He pointed out, “The Somali pirates who impacted Minnesota remind us that, in many regions, corruption and illegality are commonplace.” Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic Republicans and dissatisfied Democrats, he continued:
By allowing these cultures in through unrestricted immigration and open borders, we bring those issues directly into the United States. Ultimately, it’s the American people who bear the costs—rising medical bills, high car insurance, rent, taxes, and, most critically, increased crime. We will tackle this issue for you.
Trump’s focus on corruption serves as a strategic communications effort to counter the Democratic claim that limiting immigration is “racist.”
Highlighting corruption is also significant because it illustrates the financial burdens associated with bringing in individuals from nations with cultures that prioritize loyalty to family or clan over that to the nation. Many of these individuals struggle to embrace the principles of American citizenship.
“Corruption…is plundering America,” he said, adding:
No place exemplifies this more than Minnesota, where members of the Somali community reportedly siphoned off about $19 billion from U.S. taxpayers. We have plenty of evidence, and frankly, there’s likely much more. Other states like California and Massachusetts are even worse.
This kind of corruption undermines our nation, and we are addressing it in ways you might find unbelievable. Tonight, I am officially announcing the campaign against fraud, which our Vice President J.D. Vance has been leading for the past four months.
“We are going to confront this issue. We will address this directly,” he stated earlier.

Doctors predict she won’t walk or talk normally again. Yet, here she is tonight, with her father, as an inspiration. Please stand up, Dalila.
Many illegal immigrants face significant language barriers; they can’t even comprehend basic road signs. So, I am urging Congress to pass what we call Dalila’s Law, prohibiting states from issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.
Under Trump’s immigration reforms, there have been rises in American wages, declines in housing costs and inflation, and lower crime rates. However, these reforms are met with resistance from establishment Republicans and aligned progressives.
As reported by RestaurantBusinessOnline.com, “With a reduced workforce, restaurants will need to compete for talent by raising wages. The forecast is for wage growth to accelerate from 3.7% this year to an estimated 5.6% by 2027, according to Oxford Economics.”
This pro-worker policy faces strong opposition from Democrats, who propose improving living standards for both immigrants and citizens through government assistance.
