Trump warns GOP to ‘pass the Save Act’ or ‘go home and cry yourself to sleep’

Former President Donald Trump issued a lengthy statement Tuesday warning Republican lawmakers that they had no choice but to pass the SAVE Act and that “our entire voting system is at risk.”

The Protecting American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act would amend the National Voter Registration Act to require states to obtain proof of citizenship from voters in federal elections and to purge non-citizens from voter rolls.

“Republicans need to pass the SAVE Act or go home and cry themselves to sleep,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He added that “non-citizen illegal immigrants are getting their votes, pushed by corrupt Democratic politicians who are not being stopped by an equally dishonest Department of Justice.”

The bill stipulates that voters would be required to provide proof of citizenship through identification such as a passport, a government-issued photo ID showing birth in the United States, a military ID, a valid photo ID or proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate.

Democratic leaders have urged House members to vote against the bill ahead of a vote, calling it an “enormous burden.” [on] For countless Americans to vote.

“Democrats cannot win on policies. The only way they win is by cheating. They cheat at every level of government, and they do it well. That’s how they get incompetent idiots like Joe Biden elected,” the former president said in his Truth Social post. “The Department of Justice is corrupt and will not help a thing. They have no shame!”

If the SAVE Act passes the House, it will face an uphill battle in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Even if the bill passes the Senate, President Biden has vowed to kill it if he is called to sign it.

Trump ended his message by warning that if he is elected in November he will “go after election fraudsters like never before” and that such people will “send them to prison for a long time.”

The former president specifically slammed Facebook founder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, apparently saying, “We already know who you are. Don’t do that! Mr. Zuckerberg, be careful!”
