Trump warns that if Iran harms peaceful protesters, the US will step in to help.

Trump’s Warning to Iran Amid Protests

On early Friday, President Donald Trump stated that the United States would “come to the rescue” if Iran “violently kills peaceful protesters.” He emphasized that the U.S. is “locked, loaded and ready to go,” in a post on his social media platform just before 3 a.m. ET.

This warning came hours after reports indicated that at least six people had died during ongoing protests in Iran, which are fueled by a struggling economy, as noted by CBS News.

Former parliament speaker Ali Larijani responded to Trump, implying that U.S. intervention often leads to chaos and undermines U.S. interests in the region. He added that Americans should be cautious, referencing U.S. military presence in the Middle East, which is vulnerable to Iranian missiles.

Videos circulating on social media have shown demonstrators in cities like Tehran engaging in protests that occasionally turned violent, often clashing with security forces and chanting anti-government slogans. Although Iranian officials have acknowledged economic grievances, they have suggested that foreign elements, specifically pointing to the U.S. and Israel, are inciting the unrest.

Iranian military adviser Ali Shamkhani warned that any intervention near Iran’s security would not end well. He noted that Iranians have firsthand experience with U.S. interventions in other countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

In addition to Trump’s post, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz expressed support for the Iranian people, stating, “They have suffered at the hands of the Ayatollahs for too long.” He indicated that the protests are a cry for freedom, contradicting the oppressive atmosphere created by the current regime.

Meanwhile, the rhetoric between the U.S. and Iran has escalated, particularly following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to the U.S. Netanyahu has historically pushed for more stringent actions against Iran. Trump, during his meeting with Netanyahu, raised concerns about Iran’s potential nuclear ambitions.

On Tuesday, Iranian President Makhsoud Pezeshkian stated that any “brutal aggression” against Iran would be met with “harsh and discouraging” responses, hinting at a fierce resolve to counter external threats.
