Trump Will Permit Direct U.S. Airline Flights to Lebanon Following Meeting with President Aoun

Trump Announces Direct Flights from U.S. to Lebanon

On Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump revealed that U.S. airlines will be permitted to fly directly to Lebanon after a conversation with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

This announcement was made on Truth Social. Trump stated, “After speaking with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who has done remarkable work in transforming Lebanon, I am hereby directing my administration to allow all U.S. airlines to fly directly to Lebanon, making it easier for Americans to visit this beautiful land.”

He also expressed hope that other countries would follow suit, saying, “Enjoy!”

Earlier in the day, Trump met with Aoun in the Oval Office, remarking that Lebanon had faced numerous challenges. He described Aoun as a well-respected leader both in Lebanon and internationally, emphasizing their positive relationship.

“I think Lebanon is a country that has been treated very badly for a long time. It’s a wonderful group of people—professors, doctors, lawyers, great intellectuals—and it’s been really badly hit for decades,” he noted.

Trump mentioned that he and Aoun would work together to address many concerns. He pointed out that while issues like Hezbollah are complex, progress has been made that he believes will garner global attention. “We’re going to treat it properly and with the respect it deserves,” he added.

Aoun expressed his appreciation for Trump’s commitment to strengthening U.S.-Lebanon relations and the discussions held regarding Lebanon and Israel. “I would like to thank President Trump and his team for their historic visit and their historic achievement of signing a framework with the ultimate purpose of permanently ending hostilities between Lebanon and Israel,” Aoun remarked.

“Mr. President, I think this will be your legacy. Together, we will achieve this objective. The time has come for Lebanon and the entire region to be stable and secure. And I know that your vision is peace. Your vision is stability, and I believe that my vision aligns with yours,” he concluded.
