Trump’s Border Ban: French Scientist Deemed ‘Too Anti-Trump’ to Enter the US

Homeland Security Advisor Tricia McLaughlin clarified that the Trump administration denied French scientists entry because they possessed “secret information” kept on electronic devices.

McLaughlin rejected claims that the scientist was blocked due to political beliefs, saying it was “blatantly wrong.”

The French government, led by Minister of Higher Education Philip Baptist, claimed that the scientist was denied entry and deported due to messages criticizing the Trump administration’s research policies.

Baptist stated that the scientist’s call included personal opinions about the Trump administration’s research policy, and American authorities must have filmed the measure.

McLaughlin added, “Freedom of opinion, free research and academic freedom are values we continue to proudly support.” “I defend the possibility that all French researchers may be in compliance with the law and remain loyal to them.”

The scientist underwent a random test, where his computer and phone were allegedly reviewed. He faced allegations of sending a message expressing “hate” towards Trump, which could be considered terrorism.

According to international reports, all charges have been dropped.
