Trump’s Border Prosecutors Charge 855 with Immigration Law Violations Last Week

President Donald Trump's border prosecutors last week charged more than 855 illegal aliens and US citizens for violating immigration laws. Federal criminal prosecutions show new consequences for human smuggling, illegally crossing borders, or re-entry after removal.

Over the past week, prosecutors of US lawyers for five border state districts have charged more than 750 people with crimes related to immigration law.   • On March 9, 2025, Mexican citizen Antonio Lerma Cervantes was arrested on drug import charges when he attempted to cross from Mexico to the US at the port of entry at Otai Mesa, where more than 60 pounds of cocaine was hidden in the back seat of his vehicle and a quarter panel.
  • On March 12, 2025, Mexican citizen Eddie Osorio Berereza was arrested after being caught trying to transport another Mexican citizen within the United States. After fleeing the border patrol agents, Osorio is said to have threw rocks at both customs and border protection helicopters. After his arrest, Osorio admitted that he would be paid for smuggling activities and that he would threw a rock if the helicopter and agent were close to him. He is currently being charged with alien smuggling and assaulting a federal officer.
