NBC News chief political analyst Chuck Todd said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Katie Tarr Report” that former President Donald Trump’s campaign has become like the 15th season of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
Todd said, “He’s created a cult of personality, and that’s fine. I kept wondering whether to make an Apprentice analogy or not, this is season 15 of The Celebrity Apprentice, with Gary Busey, right? He’s desperately trying to recreate the feel of 2016, and that’s what’s happening to him right now. In fairness, he’s not the only candidate who’s going to go back into the political womb if things don’t go his way. For him, the political womb is 2016. That’s when he won. That’s why we’re hearing talk of Kellyanne Conway flying in. She seemed to do well the last 11 days of the 2016 campaign, so maybe she can get him to be a little more disciplined.”
“I was shocked when he spoke at the Republican Convention, and he went on and on about who was in the room, these were the die-hards, these were the people wearing MAGA hats, and his most ardent supporters were looking at their phones, looking at Instagram or whatever they were scrolling through,” he added.
