Trump’s Advisors Reportedly Approach NYC Mayor Adams

Reports suggest that President Donald Trump’s advisors reached out to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, offering him a position in the administration if he were to withdraw from the mayoral race. This move seems aimed at uniting moderate voters behind Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, particularly against the socialist candidate, Zohran Mamdani, who is currently leading in the polls as the November election approaches. The New York Times notes that Trump’s team has been in contact with Adams’ supporters, with one insider mentioning that discussions are unfolding in various directions.

Adams, who has been polling in the single digits as an independent Democrat, unexpectedly traveled to Florida on Monday. While there, he met with the mayor of Miami and other political figures but chose not to disclose the names of those he interacted with, according to The Times.

In light of whether he would remain in the race, Adams expressed some uncertainty. “Listen, I’m a retired police station captain, a former senator, a former borough president. I had no problems finding work when I transitioned. That’s not what I’m looking for right now. I want to continue serving the people of New York City,” he stated.

Additionally, The Times reported that the Justice Department had dropped certain charges against Adams back in February, coinciding with his alleged agreement to support the president’s immigration policies. The Trump administration is said to have influenced Adams’ federal corruption case as well.

Billionaire John Catsimatidis confirmed that he had a conversation with Trump regarding the race, noting that the president is “very worried” about Mamdani’s lead. “How do they say that, this is for all the teas in China. This is serious,” he remarked.

Adams’ spokesperson, Kayla Mamelak Altas, refuted any claims of discussions between the mayor and Trump, maintaining that he intends to continue his role for another four years as mayor.
