Trump’s criminal conviction is spurring big-dollar donors to contribute to campaign

The conviction of former President Donald Trump has attracted big-ticket donors to his campaign, which estimates it will raise about $150 million in the coming days.

Charlie Gasparino, senior correspondent for FOX Business Network and Fox News Channel, New York Post A group of Republican billionaires and multimillionaires were reportedly waiting to greet the former president, who was convicted on Thursday of falsifying business records.

“We spoke for two hours,” one attendee told Gasparino, “and we all explained that Trump needed to win, given the dangerous direction the country was heading in under Biden, and that we would do whatever we could to support him.”

Gasparino said many people have voiced their support, pledging to donate a staggering $30 million to the Trump campaign on Thursday night.

Gasparino wrote that the Trump campaign said it was confident the estimated $150 million would be raised in the coming days.

After a 24-hour fundraising campaign, Trump’s son Eric Trump bragged about the $52.8 million that had been raised on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Friday.

“What’s really amazing is, if you just look back to 2016, the largest fundraising drive in history at that point was $16 million raised in one day,” Eric Trump told Watters.

“And just a few minutes ago, we announced $52.8 million in a 24-hour period, but it’s probably $5 million to $6 million more than that based on the fact that this was exactly 24 hours after the time of the indictment, which was around 5:30 p.m. [p.m.],” he continued.

“My friends, is this the end of America?” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee asked in an email. “I have just been convicted in a rigged political witch hunt.”

“We’re just days away from our end-of-month fundraising deadline!” Trump wrote in the email, which also included a photo of the former president calling Trump a “political prisoner.”

meanwhile, Biden’s reelection campaign also issued a fundraising appeal shortly after the verdict.

“Despite the jury’s guilty verdict today against Donald Trump, there is only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: the ballot box,” the Biden campaign wrote in a fundraising message to supporters Thursday night.

“If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to make your first donation to Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, we’re here to tell you that today is the day,” he said.
