Trump's DOJ official urges prosecutors to investigate George Soros group for possible funding related to terrorism, according to a report.

Justice Department Investigates Soros-Linked Charity

In a notable development, a senior official at the Justice Department has reportedly instructed several federal prosecutors to look into a charity associated with George Soros, suggesting it could be funding “pro-terrorist groups.”

According to sources, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s office informed multiple U.S. attorneys to assess possible charges such as arson, wire fraud, assault, or supporting terrorism in relation to the Open Society Foundation, which Soros established. The New York Times reported this directive.

This investigation stems from a report by the Capital Research Center, a conservative organization, asserting that Soros’s network provided $80 million to entities tied to terrorism and extremist activities.

In addition, substantial funds have been directed toward non-governmental organizations located abroad. This effort received prior approval from the U.S. Department of State earlier this month.

Senator Chuck Grassley, who formerly served as chief counsel and now works with Blanche, dispatched instructions to U.S. lawyers in cities including New York, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Chicago, and California, as noted by the Times.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice, Chad Gilmartin, refrained from confirming the specifics of this order but stressed that public safety is a priority and that the department investigates entities involved in violence and other federal violations.

Senator Eric Schmidt expressed his support for the DOJ’s inquiry, stating he is pleased that they are examining these “shadow networks” for illegal activities. He remarked on the impact of funding from left-leaning organizations like the Open Society Foundation on unrest in the country.

Last year, the Open Society Foundation claimed to have spent over $1.2 billion promoting justice, equity, human rights, and democratic practices through its extensive grant network.

In a statement, the Foundation condemned terrorism and asserted that it does not fund such activities. They emphasized their commitment to peaceful and lawful operations and expressed concerns that the current accusations are politically charged attacks aimed at suppressing civil society.

The investigation follows comments from Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, who shared their intentions to develop a strategy to combat leftist groups accused of promoting violence, especially after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Vance discussed the broader issue of organized campaigns aimed at inciting violence, labeling it a significant domestic concern. Interestingly, he also mentioned targeting organizations like the Open Society Foundation and the Ford Foundation.

In a past Truth Social post, former President Trump called for charges against Soros and his son Alex for their roles in funding what he characterized as “radical left” activities, which include violent protests.

Meanwhile, Senator Schmidt is reportedly preparing to explore further investigations into leftist groups that may be connected to domestic terrorism, as noted by insider sources.

As of now, representatives from the Center for Third World Organisation, the Sunrise Movement, and the Black Living Movement have yet to respond to requests for comments.
