As the Republican primary races toward their climax, Trump likely to be nominated, I can’t help but think that we, as a nation, are still dramatically underreacting to the MAGA threat. The fact that Trump has made it this far is proof of that.
When will you wake up?
I will say this, what wakes me up is seeing my name on the list of enemies.
When I was 12 years old Columbine High School Massacre happened. The problem child at my upstate New York school was apparently inspired by mass shootings and decided to use the rifle he already owned to make a list of kids he wanted to shoot himself.
I was the “black kid” at school and was first on his list. Luckily, the admin caught it before anything happened. We don’t know what ultimately happened to the boy after that, but we do know that he was expelled from school.
On the other hand, I realized how scary it is to have my name on such a list. It really quickly elevated racial hatred from the theoretical realm to the practical realm.
So how many Americans realize they’re on Trump’s enemies list? And I wonder if our collective response would be different if more people knew they were being targeted and that their lives could be forever changed.
To find out who is being targeted, just look at page 900.leadership missionwas created for project 2025, the effort is led by the right-wing Heritage Foundation and supported by about 100 pro-Trump groups. This is the blueprint for the authoritarian Republican government they hope will emerge next.
The project is “backed by millions of dollars in military funding.” It is described as The plan would “give President Trump virtually unlimited power over the executive branch of the federal government, allowing him to use it as a weapon against personal enemies, political opponents, and the media.”
And while it’s starting to get more attention, I’m surprised at how little the average American knows about this, even among the most well-informed.
Certainly, President Trump’s most famous political opponents know. The plan calls for complete control of the executive branch by the president, which would put them in the crosshairs of a weaponized Justice Department. It will bring an end to 50 years of independent Ministry J.Ustis.
Journalists know for the same reason, and because of President Trump’s top advisers. openly say they will be prosecuted.
But what about the nonpartisan civil servants who run our government, fired and scheduled for replacement by those elected for their loyalty to Trump? According to some estimates, 50,000 employees could be purged.
So what happens to the millions of people, many of whom must have voted for Trump? Access to no-fault divorceAre there any fertility treatments such as contraception or in vitro fertilization (IVF)? All these things, and of course abortion (199 negative mentions included in the Leadership Mission) – may not be covered by Project 2025, which explicitly calls for the introduction of government power. To “bring back the American family.”
This is before it reaches immigrants, and there is a risk of mass outbreaks. internment and deportedpeaceful protesters are in danger. suppressed by the military under the Insurrection Act.
And that’s before we even get to LGBTQ Americans who end up living in a country with transgender people. “He should be expelled from military service.” Religious business owners ignore anti-discrimination laws.
Harm against all kinds of people can permeate every corner of society.Attacks on schools and universities are part of the plan, not just for outright attacks Conservative Republicans support banning books. One of his most chilling suggestions comes from another document, President Trump’sagenda 47” What that plan actually entails is: “Taxes, fines, lawsuits.” Donationtop university And they used that money to build a vast “American Academy” that offered “no-wake” online education.
Surprising, but true.
new york times Recently published results In focus groups, 11 out of 13 undecided voters said they would vote for Trump, apparently because they “did not blame Trump for things that are responsible and accountable.”
For example, while they were outraged by the loss of abortion rights, they did not connect the dots with President Trump’s Supreme Court appointments. New York Magazine covered the study and warned: “Trump is preying on low-information voters.”
I think that may be true. Too many people may think that President Trump’s agenda for his second term is to “build a wall” and “train, train, train.” it’s not.
Perhaps if we could understand how many of us and our friends, acquaintances and loved ones are already on the enemy list, we would be more concerned and more willing to act.
