Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 charges in the “hush money trial” Sara Gonzalez It’s scary.
“It’s really the collapse of civilization as we know it,” Gonzalez said, noting that he truly believed he would be acquitted.
“I believe that truth and justice will indeed prevail in a case of such importance to this country. Even people in New York who hate Donald Trump with all their hearts will be able to understand the impact of using the justice system as a weapon against the current president’s biggest political opponents,” she explains.
“Well, my faith has been wasted today,” she added.
Gonzalez believes this sets a terrible precedent for the American justice system.
“The impact of this happening in a country like America where you’re innocent until proven guilty is huge. When you hear the facts and the merits of this case, it makes you want to find out there was nothing and talk about the hoops the prosecutors had to jump through to try this as a felony,” she said.
“Somehow our justice system has become weaponized, where if you have zero evidence in your case and you put someone on trial in a proper setting, with a jury that’s already biased, the truth doesn’t matter,” Gonzalez said.
“It’s a very sad day for the country,” she added.
