Trump’s Hurricane Comments Are ‘Dangerous,’ ‘Gamesmanship’

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris said Wednesday on CNN's “News Central” that former President Donald Trump's comments about the federal government's lackluster response to recent hurricanes were “dangerous” political maneuvering.

“This dangerous misinformation is coming from a variety of sources, including our opponents in the race for the White House,” host Dana Bash said. “Several local Republican leaders are pleading with Florida to stop. Have you sat down with Republican officials to figure out how to respond now that things are about to get worse?”

“I've spoken with local officials affected by Hurricane Helen and other disasters, and they're doing an extraordinary job fighting misinformation,” Harris said. And I'm talking about the sheriff, I'm talking about the mayor. I'm talking about local government officials. By the way, I don't even know their political party affiliation, but the leaders on the ground know that it is not in the best interest of the people living in the area to not know their rights and their rights. They are afraid to ask for help. ”

She added: “Frankly, it's dangerous for people who think of themselves as leaders to mislead desperate people so they don't get the help they deserve.'' It's unconscionable. That's why I say it's dangerous. We all know it's dangerous, and at some point the gamesmanship should stop. , politics must end.”
