Trump’s Late Arrival and Remarks at G7 Summit

President Donald Trump, after a late-night celebration for his 80th birthday and the White House Freedom 250 UFC event, made a late entrance to the G7 summit’s final session on Wednesday. He arrived long after other leaders had settled in, pausing to make a notable announcement.

With a serious look, he declared, “I’m the boss,” followed by a smile.

Once photographers were escorted out, Trump casually commented, “Would you stay for the meeting? That’s fine.”

In a light moment, he mentioned that the press conference was filled with attractive individuals. Trump then engaged with a reporter from Sky News Arabia, describing him as a “really nice guy” and joking, “He has a really good attitude towards himself. My people are really mean. He’s a handsome guy. I could put him in a movie right now.”

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan humorously advised reporters to “be careful.” Trump then praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the “most beautiful looking man,” though he quipped, “he’s as tough as they think.”

In response to inquiries about a potential drone and sniper threat to the UFC event, Trump seemed unaware, stating, “I didn’t hear about that, no…The attack I saw was a fighter jet,” adding that the last battle he observed was brutal.

When discussing Egypt’s border security, Trump shifted focus to his relationship with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, reminiscing about their first meeting years ago. He fondly recalled, “We fell in love, we loved each other deeply… we had great chemistry.”

Trump also mentioned that Sisi “didn’t want to meet” Hillary Clinton back then.

This light-hearted banter unfolded against the backdrop of serious international issues. Notably, the deadline for an agreement with Iran was approaching, with Trump warning that he would renew hostilities if Iran failed to act. Furthermore, Ukraine sought to reclaim attention amidst the ongoing situation with Iran.

When asked if the warm reception from European leaders indicated agreement with his perspective, Trump shrugged it off, saying, “I think they think I was right. When you’re serious, I’m always right.”
