MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said on “Deadline” Tuesday that former President Donald Trump's immigration policies were “un-American” and reminiscent of the Holocaust.
“The issue of mass deportations, he's talked about it repeatedly, and polls show Americans want it, but I wonder if we understand what it would mean to put millions of people on trains and buses, arrest them, round them up, deploy the military and police, separate parents from children,” said network contributor Charlie Sykes. “It would be one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of our time.”
“Trump is talking about serial numbers, and this is not just our heinous history of segregation in the South, this is the history of the Holocaust, the Japanese American internment camps, which had serial numbers,” Wallace said.
She continued: “The story of the serial numbers has sinister echoes in history.”
Wallace added: “We're past the point of giving paper plate awards to Republicans like Paul Ryan who clap their hands and say, I'm not going to do that, I'm not going to vote for Donald Trump. Where are the alarm bells? Where are the Republican efforts to stop the dehumanization of asylum seekers, immigrants, illegal immigrants? Where are the efforts to say this is not who we are, this is hurting our communities? Where are the efforts to say enough is enough? I believe in the conservative game plan, but this is not conservative, this is un-American.”
