Federal agents begin to engage in terrorists, gang activities and drug deals on Long Island and parts of New York City.
The move by President Trump, who leads the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, comes hours after the commander's speech to Congress.
“There's a lot more to do in the fight,” said John J. Durham, interim US Eastern District Attorney on Wednesday.
The overall goal, according to the district, is to “dismantle” the organization “with a special focus on senior leadership and management.”
Targeting people responsible for overdose is the biggest task.
“We are responsible for dismantling these ruthless organizations from the top down to stop the violence, the drug flow and the dangers they will unleash in our district and across the country.
Participating in the strike force is Assistant Megan E. Farrell, U.S. Attorney for the Long Island Criminal Division of the office. According to the Eastern District, she has indicted “serious organized crime, gangs and sex trafficking cases.”
The cross-border criminal organization's strike forces have been announced after President Trump spoke about his decision to place foreign fear designations on the “bloodthirsty Mexican cartel” in addition to Venezuelan gangster Tren de Lagua and MS-13, as well as the MS-13, which has a famous presence in Li, as well as the cross-border criminal organization.
“Now they're officially in the same category as ISIS. That's not good for them,” said the president, who visited the MS-13 heavy area in Brentwood during his first term.
A statement about the Durham troop assembly cited the local MS-13, among other vicious gangs and cartels, such as the Sinaloa organization.
Authorities will also pursue those involved in assault and other forms of terrorist activity.
Another priority is to stop topical sales of synthetic heroinfentanyl. Last month, the leader of the Suffolk Blood Gang was arrested for selling a fatal dose to the mother of a young child in Rocky Point.
Francisco J. Navarro, chief of the district's international drug and money laundering division, has been appointed director of the strike force.
Along with other US lawyer assistants, representatives from the Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhood (a coalition of local, state and federal law enforcement identify local threats) will also appear on the team.
