White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spends much time talking about herself, but that doesn't stop her from talking to America.
Not only is she the youngest person to serve as a White House press secretary at age 27, she is also the new mother of seven-month-old Nicholas “Nico” Robert. President Trump first met her bundle of joy just a few weeks ago, Leavitt told the Post.
“I brought my husband and son for a sworn ceremony at the White House. He was very kind and free,” she recalled.
Little Nico was on a Trump train long before he was born, so the introduction was a long time.
When Leavitt got a job as a spokesman for Trump's 2024 campaign at the time, he was already hoping for him and baffled the first half of 2024 for Trump, who is growing up.
She welcomed her son with her husband, Nicolas Richio, 59, on July 10th. Just three days later, she hugged her newborn in her arms and saw him shot on live television in conjunction with Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. And survives the first of two assassination attempts.
She's back on screen – and the campaign trail resumed the following day her role as a spokeswoman for the Trump election, just four days after childbirth.
She hasn't been late since, and after winning in November, she was elected presidential election for White House press secretary.
She leaps daily and uses motherhood as a motivation while driving the press into shape from behind the podium.
“Being a mom helps me make my job better,” she said. “It gives me a bigger perspective on life and I can remember that not all bad days are the end of the world, as my bigger purpose is to be mama.”
It helps to be good friends in the White House. She says she's far from the only person who has little things in the house.
“It's a very parent-family White House,” Levitt said, adding that it's not just the women in the White House who are making youthful flowers. “We have a lot of men on our team who also work with fathers of young children.”
She is not the first new mom to run a White House briefing room. Another Trump pick, Kayley McNanney, gave birth to her daughter in November 2019. She was tapped for work the following April, when her daughter was not yet five months old.
It's all part of the legacy of Trump's parent-family, a parent-child man, Leavitt told the Post.
“President Trump has not received enough credibility for his mother working with women who have risen over the years, both in business and politics,” she said. “And I'm just one of many women on a very long list.”
Also, the list currently has gov. Arkansas Sarah Huckabee Sanders had three children under the age of five when she was tapped as a White House press secretary in 2017.
Despite his all-business look, Trump sometimes shows a soft side when it comes to little kids.
The video went viral on Prez's X last week, with Valentina, 5, daughter of Transport Secretary Sean Duffy, taking photos of Down syndrome.
After taking one photo with her, Trump pretended to lift “such a big girl” and picked up the sparkling girl and placed it on his lap for another photo.
These rare and precious moments are not moments when the media likes to display.
Anyone who cuts his teeth in Trump's orbit is not unaware of media misconduct, petty onslaught, persistent opposite sides, and targeting names directed in his direction.
And for the White House press secretary, it all comes with the territory.
What does Levitt feel like to be a spokesman for a man who likes to speak for himself, thanking the president for making his job easier with his famous candidness and accessibility? I asked.
“I really enjoy working for my boss who is incredibly transparent, honest and always open,” she said.
“In fact, my job makes it easier for people like President Trump to work. President Trump is speaking for himself, he is decisive and is a true leader of our team in the White House.” said.
She didn't mention her boss' predecessor in her conversation with the post, but it's not difficult to decipher the message. management.
“He calls shots to give direction. It's my job to reflect his message,” she added.
