The Senate voted 52-48 to confirm the former Army Reserve Colonel, with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY.) the only Republican to oppose her and all Democrats who oppose her. I joined.

It wasn't an easy path for Gabbard as she fought multiple combat hearings in the Senate.

“I think it's safe to say that Gabbard's nomination has attracted a bit more interest and attention than most candidates,” said Tom Cotton of the Senate Intelligence Committee at the start of the confirmation hearing last month. ARK) Committee Chairman (R-ARK) confirmed.

Cotton questioned her “patriotism” after numerous FBI background checks, surveys and other documents that revealed that Gabbard's records were “clean as mouth whispers.” He accused him of doing so.

Arkansas lawmakers also said Hillary Clinton called her a “Russian asset.”

Through her intense hearing, Gabbard said poor intelligence had detrimental consequences for American national security.

“For too long, false, inadequate, weaponized intelligence has led to costly failures and weakening our national security,” Gabbard told the senators. “One of the most obvious examples of these failures is the invasion of Iraq based on a comprehensive manufacturing or a complete intelligence reporting agency.”

“President Trump's reelection is a clear mission from the Americans to break this cycle of failure and end weaponization/politicization. [intelligence community]and we will begin to restore confidence in those who have been charged with the key challenge of securing our country,” she added.

Additionally, Senate majority leader John Tune (Rs.D.) said earlier this week that Democrats were opposed to Gabbard and his health and welfare secretaries.

Gabbard is also known for defending National Security Agency (NSA) leaker Edward Snowden and opposes intelligence news that former Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad deployed chemical weapons to his people .

Virginia Democrat Sen. Mark Warner, vice-chairman of the intelligence news committee, said both Gabbard and RFK Jr. Picks are “the worst candidate ever” for “depressing and slimy cabinets.” Ta.

“This woman who can't even call Snowden a traitor or still blames NATO for the Ukrainian invasion,” Warner said of Gabbard in a video posted on Wednesday.

Republican Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan) disagreed with Gabbard's comments that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was due to “legitimate security concerns that Ukraine has become a member of NATO.” I was doing it.

Gabbard replied that she was “angry about the question,” and that “no country, group or individual will get a pass.”

There were also discrepancies about other GOP lawmakers refusing to call Snowden a “traitor” at her confirmation hearing. Newsweek He vowed to stop leaks “like Snowden” in the future.

“Snowden should have raised concerns about illegal surveillance through approved channels,” she wrote.

Before serving in Congress, Gabbard was a member of the Hawaii State Legislature and was deployed overseas as an Army National Soldier during the Iraq War.
