Turning Point USA to Host Alternative Halftime Show
Turning Point USA has decided to create its own version of the Super Bowl halftime show following the announcement that Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican artist known for his Spanish-language music, will headline the event.
On Thursday, the organization introduced “The All American Halftime Show,” planning it to coincide with the Super Bowl and positioning it as an alternative to Bad Bunny’s performance.
“It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show,” the group, co-founded by late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, shared in a post on X.
Details about the location and lineup of musical acts are still under wraps. However, their website is inviting fans to weigh in on the musical genres they’d like to see at the event.
Available options on the site include “Anything in English, Americana, Classic Rock, Country, Hip Hop, Pop, and Worship.”
This announcement comes after some backlash aimed at the NFL for choosing Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny, for the halftime show.
Ocasio drew criticism due to resurfacing remarks where he labeled federal immigration agents as “motherf***ers” and “sons of b****es.”
He had also previously opted not to include the U.S. in his recent world tour, citing concerns that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents might show up and impact his performances.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has indicated that federal agents could be present at the Super Bowl to enforce immigration laws.
“We’re going to enforce the law. So I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they are law-abiding Americans who love this country,” Noem expressed last Saturday.
When asked about the NFL’s choice to feature Ocasio at the halftime event, Noem remarked: “They suck, and we’ll win, and God will bless us, and we’ll stand and be proud of ourselves at the end of the day. And they won’t be able to sleep at night because they don’t know what they believe, and they’re so weak.”
