Mets Struggle Continues with Loss to Twins
It seems like everyone is taking a shot at the Mets lately.
Following their victory against the Mets on Tuesday night, the Twins had some fun on social media by poking at New York’s lengthy 12-game losing streak—its worst since 2002. The official Twins account cheekily posted, “What you get for a dozen. Eggs, roses, and a Mets loss,” on X.
The Mets last secured a win on April 7, when Ronnie Mauricio hit a walk-off hit, leading them to a 4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks in extra innings. Since then, however, it’s been a downward spiral, and this latest defeat marks a new low for them in 2026, leaving little room for optimism.
In a telling game, the Mets initially took a three-run lead, but their offense vanished after the fifth inning. They couldn’t muster a single hit thereafter.
Interestingly, the Twins aren’t the only ones taking jabs at the Mets. MLS team Charlotte FC also made light of the Mets’ struggles while posting about their own win over New York City FC.
NYCFC, which sometimes uses Citi Field as their home ground when Yankee Stadium is occupied, ironically noted, “We have won at Citi Field since April 8,” highlighting the Mets’ struggles both at Citi Field and in their overall performance.
With the Mets’ recent loss adding to the gloom surrounding the baseball season in Queens, fans may soon question whether more drastic changes are necessary, especially after coach Carlos Mendoza has been unable to reverse their fortunes.
Looking ahead, the Mets will face the Twins again on Wednesday and Thursday before starting a three-game series against the Rockies. There’s some good news though—superstar Juan Soto is expected to return from a calf injury on Wednesday.
