Arrest Warrants Issued in Penn State Senior’s Murder

Philadelphia authorities have recently issued arrest warrants for two 16-year-old males linked to the murder of a Penn State University senior.

The suspects, identified as Kaiseem Smith and Azbair Outen Fleming, are facing charges of murder and related offenses. Police are encouraging anyone with information to reach out via their tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Billy Schmidt, who was just 22 years old, was tragically shot around 1:30 a.m. on June 6 on Durfoe Street in South Philadelphia. Local reports indicate that this incident may have been an armed robbery, occurring just blocks from Schmidt’s home.

Witnesses provided surveillance footage that captured events leading up to the shooting, where Schmidt can be heard asking for his phone back.

As reported, police have shared that before the shooting, the suspects were seen near 20th Street and were last observed near 22nd and Porter Streets. One suspect is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with braided hair, wearing a gray KONFUSED hoodie featuring a skull and crossbones, along with a black mask. The other suspect, believed to be the one who fired the gun, is shorter, between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches, dressed in black and wearing a camouflage mask.

After the incident, both suspects reportedly stripped off their masks and hoodies, appearing in white T-shirts.

State officials expressed their condolences, stating, “We are saddened by the tragic death of William Schmidt and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Schmidt was on track to graduate in December, pursuing a degree in digital journalism and media.

Furthermore, Philadelphia is offering a $20,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.

As a local resident voiced, “I hope they find it. I would love to see them in prison. They don’t deserve to walk away from what they did.”
