Tragic Loss of Two Indian Students in Traffic Accident

Two Indian students tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident last week in Lancaster County, USA. The victims, 23-year-old Saurav Prabhakar and 20-year-old Manav Patel, were students at Cleveland State University in Ohio. The incident occurred on May 10th when their vehicle veered off the road on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The Indian Consulate General in New York expressed its deep condolences and offered support to the families during this difficult time.

The consulate shared, “We are deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate road accident that resulted in the loss of two Indian students from Cleveland State University, Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families as they navigate this challenging period.” They confirmed ongoing communication with the families and promised assistance.

Details of the Accident

Pennsylvania State Police reported that the accident took place around 7 AM on Saturday in an eastbound lane near the East Cocaliko Township Reading Interchange, where the vehicle collided with a tree after leaving the turnpike and subsequently crossed a bridge.

Reports indicate that Saurav Prabhakar was driving while Manav Patel was a passenger. Unfortunately, both were pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s findings revealed that they succumbed to multiple traumatic injuries, classifying their deaths as accidental.

Another unidentified individual was transported to Reading Hospital, and their condition remains unclear, according to the report.
