Two Men Kidnapped, Tortured for Days Over Stolen Drugs in Texas Border City

An armed group in south Texas kidnapped two victims and held them in the Texas border city of Brownsville. The gunmen tortured them for several days on suspicion of stealing drugs.

This week, Brownsville police arrested 55-year-old Gilberto Moises Cancino, 20-year-old Christopher Alejandro Lerma, and 17-year-old Cris Angel Aguilar on two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A municipal judge set bail at $650,000 for Cancino and Lerma and $400,000 for Aguilar.

The incident began earlier this month when two men escaped from a hidden house and ran into a nearby house seeking help. According to Brownsville Police, authorities responded to a home in the 200 block of Ash Street after receiving a report of a trespasser. When police arrived, they found signs of severe torture on both men.

During questioning, the two claimed to have been kidnapped and held at a home in the 200 block of Shary Street. Authorities said the two victims were tied up in a bathroom, repeatedly beaten and burned with boiling water.

The two were reportedly kidnapped on suspicion of stealing drugs. The information released by Brownsville Police did not say how much drugs were involved or whether the incident was related to the Gulf Cartel, which operates in the area.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the kidnappings come at a time when Brownsville is experiencing a wave of cartel-related car thefts, and criminal organizations need to replenish gunmen competing for different turfs. Therefore, the stolen car is given to the Gulf Cartel. war with rivals.
