Tragic Struggles of Former Child Star Tyler Chase
Tyler Chase, once a well-known child actor, has been staying on his mother’s balcony behind a plywood barrier since September. This follows his admission of drug addiction and homelessness.
At 36 years old, Chase did not want to talk during a recent visit, but his mother, Paula Moisio, described their home as a “safe place” for him.
It’s somewhat ambiguous whether he’s allowed indoors or is only permitted to sleep outside on the porch, which has been shielded from public sight.
A GoFundMe fundraiser for Chase raised over $1,200, but Moisio decided to stop the campaign, expressing concerns that he would spend the money on drugs. She emphasized that he “needs medical care, not money.”
On Christmas Day, Chase spent 72 hours in a Riverside hospital and was expected to enter a rehab facility, according to reports.
Previously, he was found digging in the dirt behind a 7-Eleven near Riverside, looking unkempt. His clothing was torn, and his hands bore cuts and blisters, with dirt beneath his nails.
Locals have noted that Chase has become a troubling presence in the vicinity. With 12 misdemeanor arrests in Riverside County since 2023, mostly for shoplifting, his recent arrest occurred at a Nordstrom Rack.
Two young women at a nearby Dairy Queen mentioned recognizing him from a viral TikTok video. In December, law enforcement noted that he wasn’t currently wanted for any crimes, but they interacted with him regularly.
After an interview with a publication, Daniel Curtis Lee, a fellow actor from “Ned’s Declassified,” spotted Chase and treated him to a meal before checking into a motel.
Chase, who portrayed Martin in the Nickelodeon show, has had a tumultuous journey, and his story continues to unfold. It seems that while there might be attempts for recovery, his path remains uncertain and rocky.
