“The Embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings, including concerts, in Moscow. U.S. citizens are advised to avoid large gatherings for the next 48 hours. The embassy said on its website.

American citizens living in Russia are already being told to remain vigilant, “avoid crowds” and “be aware of your surroundings.”

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Thursday that it had foiled an attack by an Islamic terrorist group on a synagogue in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow.

“On the territory of the Kaluga region, the activities of Wilayat Khorasan, an organization of the Afghan branch of the international terrorist organization Islamic State, banned in Russia, were suspended. Its members were planning terrorist acts against Afghanistan.Moscow It is one of the Jewish religious sites in the country,” the FSB said in a statement given to the state-run TASS news agency.

When Russian special forces attacked ISIS headquarters, the terrorists returned fire and were quickly “neutralized,” the FSB said.

Meanwhile, the incident is currently being investigated in Russia as a conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack.
