U.S. Hits Iranian Nuclear Facilities as Trump Urges to Seek Peace or Risk Further Attacks

US Military Attacks Iranian Nuclear Sites

On Saturday, the US military launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, acting on President Trump’s directives. This decision came after a week of deliberation within the White House about potentially involving Israel in the ongoing conflict, which had escalated nine days prior. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been advocating for US intervention, asserting that America possesses the weapons necessary to target the underground facilities crucial for Iran’s nuclear program.

The underlying goal of this military action is to thwart Iran—recognized as a major sponsor of terrorism—from developing nuclear weapons. Unlike many countries in the region, Iran does not acknowledge Israel’s right to exist, heightening tensions.

In a nationwide address on Saturday night, Trump referred to the airstrikes as “a massive precision strike at three significant nuclear facilities” in Iran.

“Our objective was to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and eliminate the nuclear threat posed by the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism,” Trump declared. “I can assure you tonight that we’ve achieved a significant military success; Iran’s key nuclear facilities are no more.”

“Iran, often viewed as a bully in the Middle East, now has a choice: seek peace or face much larger attacks in the future,” he added.

Trump’s announcement was shared via his social media account, where he wrote, “The full payload of the bombs has been deployed on the primary sites, including Fordow. Our aircraft returned safely. Congratulations to our brave troops. There’s no other force in the world that could accomplish this. Now is the time for peace!”

During his address, Trump emphasized Iran’s need to give up its ambitions for nuclear weapons.

“For four decades, Iran has been chanting ‘Death to America, Death to Israel.’ They’ve caused casualties among our people and inflicted serious injuries,” he stated. “…We are determined to eliminate this grave threat to Israel.”

Trump also cautioned that if Iran does not pursue peace, further military action would follow.

“It’s either peace or tragedy for Iran. The consequences could be much greater than what we’ve seen recently,” Trump pointed out. “Keep in mind, there are still many targets left. While tonight’s strikes were the most challenging and possibly the most lethal, if peace doesn’t materialize soon, we will continue our targeted operations with precision and efficiency.”
