Media staff at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) reportedly threatened to “smash” the reporter's life after filming a video of journalist head coach Dan Hurley in foul mouth Tillard after losing to Florida on Sunday.
“I hope they don't f*ckk like they f*ckked us,” Harley I cried out Heading towards Baylor Bears as they prepare to take the floor following UConn's loss.
Charlotte Sports Live Reporter Joey Ellis captured the video of the moment.
Efforts have been made to ensure that the video is not viral or posted at all. After the Hurley explosion, Bobby Mullen, UConn director of Men's Basketball Communications, reportedly asked Ellis to stand up and delete the video. Mullen then reportedly threatened to “smash” Ellis' life if the video was released.
This video didn't just get to the internet, it went viral. I urge Mullen to attack reporters with a statement.
“The enduring image of Superintendent Harley leaving the courtroom should have been overwhelmed by emotion and walked from Court Arm in Arm with his senior,” Mullen said. “Instead, a reporter from an area where he shouldn't have been recorded private comments on his cell phone to another coaching staff member.”
Mullen also vented his X account.
“PR Man shouts to reporters. 11 news,” Mullen wrote in a post since. “I have a degree in journalism and know the difference between reporting and looking for 'gotcha' moments. My temperament flares up a bit in moments of weakness after loss, but I think that the journalist who works regularly will assure me. ”
It is unknown where Mullen was taught to “smash” the life of a reporter in his extensive journalism training. Either way, Mullen boss Dan Hurley appears to have been cut from the same fabric bolts, if not the most passionate and explosive coach in college basketball.
