Tens of thousands of undocumented migrants arriving across the English Channel are aware that they will receive various benefits upon their arrival. These include free housing, meals, phones, legal assistance, health services, and clothing, all supported by British taxpayers.
Now, it seems there’s more to add to that ever-growing list – hijabs.
Reports indicate that females arriving on UK shores are receiving this Islamic attire at an average of 162 per month, according to internal government figures cited by the Mail on Sunday.
This revelation emerges amidst heightened political debate about Muslim headwear, which many critics believe symbolizes the oppression of women, as noted by the outlet.
Moreover, this aligns with findings from a recent study indicating that over one-sixth of the British population perceives the rise of the Muslim community in the UK as a threat to the nation’s cultural integrity, as reported by Breitbart News.

Laura Trott, the Shadow Education Secretary, shared her opposition to hijabs as part of school uniforms with the Mail on Sunday, stating, “I do not believe the state should be party to an instrument of female suppression.”
According to Home Office documents, 974 hijabs were distributed to migrants arriving by boat between January and June. If the trend continues, this number could approach 1,500 for the current year.
Conservative Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp criticized the Labour Government, led by Prime Minister Andy Burnham, insisting that the distribution of hijabs to undocumented migrants should cease immediately:
It’s an offense to hardworking British taxpayers that they must fund religious items for individuals who entered our country unlawfully. It shouldn’t be our responsibility to support someone else’s religious practices.
Many undocumented immigrants disdain our values. A significant number come here solely for free housing and benefits financed by us. The people crossing the channel are essentially trespassing into our country. They cannot justify fleeing France, which is undoubtedly safe.
Thus, we must exit the European Convention on Human Rights to facilitate the immediate deportation of all undocumented immigrants upon arrival.
A Home Office insider informed the Mail on Sunday that they are legally obliged to provide essential clothing, including cultural and religious items, under the Short-term Holding Facility Rules, with newly arrived Muslims being a key demographic receiving these provisions.
The announcement regarding the free hijabs arrives as public frustration mounts over the influx of migrants across the Channel and the associated security concerns.
Over 19,000 illegal migrants via small boats have arrived this year, with the current Labour government showing little indication of halting the situation or turning the boats back.
