Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, warned his Republican colleagues that the proposed Ukraine aid bill could be used to impeach former President Trump if he is reelected in November. .

Vance sent a memo to Republican lawmakers emphasizing that the Ukraine policy guarantees funding through September 2025. But Trump has vowed to end the Ukraine war within 24 hours of his inauguration, which would also end his funding.

”[The package] This represents an attempt by the foreign policy bloc/deep state to prevent President Trump from pursuing the policies he desires and, if he does, provide grounds to impeach him and undermine his administration. ing. All Republicans should vote against passage,” the memo said.

“Back in 2019, Democrats articulated a novel impeachment theory based on President Trump’s refusal to disburse funds from USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative). Five years after impeaching him, they drafted a new law calling for another impeachment: “President Trump is demanding that money be spent on Ukraine. They will argue that Mr. Trump broke the law instead,” Vance wrote in an op-ed for the American Conservative.

Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, warned his Republican colleagues that the proposed Ukraine aid bill could be used to impeach former President Trump if he is reelected in November. .

The Senate voted Sunday to move forward with the aid package, which also includes money for Israel and other U.S. allies. So far, 18 Republicans have signed on to the initiative.

The package would provide Ukraine with $60 billion, much of it to buy U.S.-made defense equipment, including munitions and air defense systems, that authorities desperately need. Russia attacks the country. It also includes $8 billion and other aid to the Kiev government.
