Gunmen’s Bridge Shooting in Dallas Leads to Arrests

A video that surfaced on New Year’s Day, showing gunmen shooting from a bridge in Dallas, has gone viral. Authorities report that the suspects are connected to multiple gun-related incidents across North Texas, resulting in several arrests and immigration holds.

On Tuesday, Dallas police revealed the identities of two suspects—20-year-old Anthony Acevedo and 18-year-old Jose Alarcon Sanchez. Both are from Grand Prairie and were seen in social media footage firing weapons from the Margaret McDermott Bridge, located west of downtown Dallas.

This reckless act, which was captured on camera and widely shared, sparked immediate public outrage and prompted a significant investigation.

Detectives from the Central Patrol Division and Special Investigations Unit, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, launched a comprehensive investigation. They reported the recovery of over 100 shell casings near the bridge.

During the inquiry, it was revealed that Alarcon-Sanchez had been arrested for a similar firearm offense by the Grand Prairie Police earlier that same day.

As the investigation progressed, authorities found evidence connecting 25-year-old Anderson Darce Lara to another shooting incident linked to road rage that had occurred in November. It was reported that Darce Lara fired shots into a vehicle occupied by three adults and three children, narrowly avoiding hitting them.

With assistance from the ATF, investigators executed search warrants and seized multiple firearms, including one that matched the weapon seen in the viral video from the bridge. This further established Darce Lara’s involvement in both incidents.

Acevedo and Alarcon Sanchez face charges in some areas for discharging a firearm, classified as a Class A misdemeanor. Conversely, Darce Lara has been charged with six first-degree felony counts for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Although Acevedo has been released on bail, Alarcon Sánchez and Delce Lara remain in custody under immigration authority.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeau stated, “If you risk your life in Dallas, we will identify you, thoroughly investigate you, and hold you accountable.”

The investigation continues.
