Undocumented Immigrant Charged with Attempted Murder for Throwing Molotov Cocktail

Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against Illegal Immigrant in Los Angeles Riot

An individual from Mexico, identified as Emiliano Garduno Garvez, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement during a riot in Los Angeles, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported Wednesday.

Garduno Garvez was arrested on Tuesday, following a violent protest that took place over the weekend. He faces serious allegations after he was seen throwing the incendiary device at police officers. The formal charges against him were announced later that night.

“Emiliano Garduno Garvez is an illegal immigrant who posed a grave threat to federal law enforcement during the unrest in Los Angeles,” a DHS statement emphasized. They also warned that interfering with officers will lead to severe legal consequences.

It’s worth noting that Garduno Garvez has a history of deportation. According to the DHS, he has been removed from the U.S. previously, and he holds a record of criminal offenses. In 2024, he was arrested for driving under the influence and grand theft in California.

The protests erupted after anti-ICE demonstrators attempted to obstruct a sweep targeting illegal immigrants. During these demonstrations, some were seen burning American flags, waving Mexican flags, and engaging in vandalism and looting. Reports indicated that Garduno Garvez was equipped with a riot-related device and a protective mask during the chaos.

Similar expressions of unrest have been reported across various cities in the U.S., including San Antonio, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. The DHS noted that ICE operations have led to the detention of illegal immigrants linked to serious crimes, such as murder and sexual assault.

“Our courageous ICE officers are working diligently to remove dangerous individuals from the streets of Los Angeles, while facing considerable resistance from city leaders,” DHS stated in a recent announcement.
